Prof Shizuo TOKITO's group has developed a kind of film, which is a sensor can measure freshness of perishable food such as fish, meat. The substance causing food intoxication can be detected by a special electrode in the film sensor being sticked on the food. The thinness of the senor is as same as food package film and make it possible to monitor the damage of the food at all times. It is expected to respond the safety intention of consumers and prevent the disposition of the eatable food. This film sensor is going to be designed as use-and-dispose type and is aimed to make a trial product to practical use in 3 years.
