Jun. 17, 2014 | On May 23rd, a memorial lecture from Purple Ribbon Medal winning distinguished professor Junji Kido and a celebratory gathering were held at Rihga Royal Hotel Tokyo. |
Professor Nishide, who was professor Kido’s mentor during his undergraduate years at Waseda University, presented a lecture, entitled “Promoting value-creation through Functional Organic Materials.” In the lecture, Professor Nishida shared several unique episodes of Professor Kido. Professor Kido started his memorial lecture by explaining the origins of his name, and then sharing his experiences of previous projects he had been involved in and led him to creating organic EL lights. He explained how he never would have gotten the medal if it was not for all these important experiences. At the end of the lecture, he quoted an improvised version of the famous quote from Steve Jobs, the co-funder and CEO of Apple Inc, “changing the nation, one prefecture at a time.” Animation delivery of a memorial lecture from Purple Ribbon Medal winning distinguished professor Junji Kido
